Karen Hulme Alegi has been practicing law in Maryland since 2004. She is also a licensed attorney in the District of Columbia. She holds a Title Insurance Producer’s License in Maryland and her Real Estate Brokers’ License in Maryland and West Virginia. Karen began her legal career as a litigator in the State and Federal Courts of Maryland. Her cases included complex business disputes, estate administration matters, and divorce and custody matters. She graduated from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree.
Karen greatly enjoys assisting clients in ensuring their legacy for their families through practical estate planning and business succession planning and has extensive experience in providing these services to her clients. She helps them create and update their wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives and other documents that reflect their wishes and protect their assets. She also handles probate matters and assists clients with estate administration and litigation. She is familiar with the tax implications and legal issues involved in estate planning and can advise clients on the best strategies for their situation. Karen also offers mediation and collaborative practice services for clients who want to resolve their estate disputes without going to court.
